Hamilton Fringe Festival

An 11-day unjuried theatre festival that happens every summer in downtown Hamilton

The Equity Initiative: A Public Consultation

Disability Justice Network of Ontario & Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion

The Equity Initiative is a project aimed at challenging and transforming inequitable systems in the performing arts community in Hamilton. This project aims to level the playing field for future artists and artistic leaders by creating consciously accessible programs at both of our annual festivals. Working in collaboration with the Disability Justice Network of Ontario and the Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion, the Hamilton Fringe will introduce two new lottery categories in the fall of 2019 for participation in the 2020 summer Fringe – one to serve artists with disabilities and one to serve racialized artists. These two consultation sessions aim to gather insights and feedback from community members about how to best serve their needs at the festival.
